Reflections on the Christmas Holiday
Category:The excitement is in the air. The lights and decorations, the Christmas Trees, the Christmas songs on the radio and just every part that makes Christmas, well, Christmas.
In the Catholic Church, this season is called Advent. The dictionary states:
1) a coming into place, view, or being; arrival:
the advent of the holiday season.
2) the coming of Christ into the world.
If we take a closer look at the word Advent we can also see that it is the root word of the word adventure. Now we are talking.
It is only my opinion but I think the Good Lord put us here to be adventurous and to leave no stone unturned. Yes, I believe we should be and I believe the Good Lord wants us to be exploring his vast universe in wonder and amazement. I am sure He also wants us to be climbing mountains, racing go-carts, bungee jumping, hiking, biking, walking, running, skating, skiing, skydiving, deep sea diving and this list could go on forever. And I certainly believe that the Good Lord wants us to have the time, the money and the good health to be adventurous. A quick visit to my website may help you in this regard. www.davidpiro.com
And of course, we pray to God before we do these things and then we thank the Dear Lord for seeing us through such adventures and then, of course, it goes without saying the thankfulness and gratefulness to “just do it.” A prayer often recited is “With You in my life, I can take the ups and downs that come with the territory.”
As you go from place to place in excited anticipation of the birth of Christ. Let every light signal the light of Christ that is living deep inside your heart. Let every Christmas song you hear or sing be a prayer and a reminder of what a wonderful and amazing and life changing event the birth of Christ was and still is. As we prepare to celebrate the “Birth of the Christ Child”, let us also draw on the second parallel to Christmas and that is the “Second Coming of Christ.” It reminds me of that old Boy Scout motto – “Be Prepared”
So go out and have some fun and be adventurous, after all, it is a birthday celebration and I would think the Christ Child would marvel at everything that goes into the celebration (The Christmas Season). Just make sure you keep the light of Christ shining out to everyone you meet. Keep the love, the joy and the peace of Christ burning deep inside your heart. After all, it is “His” celebration.
